A gift for my fiancée, they gently clamp delicate bobbin lace 1-2" apart so you can cut the spool between the clamps and tie off the ends before they unravel.
I sanded/stained the blocks and epoxied felt onto one side of each, trimmed flush. Held pairs together with the clamp and 3D printed an adapter to match the inside contour of the clamps with the edge of the wood rods and epoxied in place. Replaced the torsion spring with a softer one.
CAD of the insert that snaps into the clamp arms, qty 2 per clamp. The grooves fit around the stiffening ribs of the injection molded plastic.
Bottom view of the same part, this side got epoxied to the wood rods.
